Darien Wilson's Priorities

Darien and her family

"Good health is necessary for a thriving economy. My priorities include increased support for public health, including common sense gun safety and mental health, jobs, including small-business development, and promoting conservation. These priorities are all interdependent - just like our Douglas County community."

Darien Wilson

Having a good job, not sitting in traffic, having time to enjoy our beautiful outdoors, clean air, and ample water all contribute to good mental and physical health. And good health is necessary for a thriving economy and the ability to enjoy our beautiful Colorado way of life.

Health

Increase support for mental health and public safety, including common sense gun safety. We need to make it easier for families to connect to mental health supports BEFORE they are in crisis. And now that we're in the midst of a pandemic, the importance of placing public health as a top priority is even more clear.

Jobs

No one likes traffic. Additional road construction is necessary, but transportation isn't the only answer. We must take a multi-pronged approach, including:

  • Attract companies that bring high-paying jobs into Douglas County
  • Ongoing improvement and enhancement of communications infrastructure so people can successfully work and learn from home
  • Remove barriers for small businesses and start-ups
  • Housing people can afford

Conservation

Our family chose to make Douglas County home because our quality of life here is second to none - and I'd like to keep it that way for future generations. I will preserve, protect, and promote our beautiful open spaces, and ensure clean air and sustainable water sources.

What is a County Commissioner?

Why is your vote for county commissioner so important?

Why is my vote for County Commissioner so important?

The three member Board of County Commissioners serve as the governing body for Douglas County. They are responsible for the health, safety, and welfare of the citizens.

Commissioners work with staff to identify spending priorities for our $463 million budget, and set policy related to transportation, public safety, economic development, land use, special districts, and more. The decisions they make often impact our daily lives more than state or federal legislation.

Everyone in Douglas County can vote for two County Commissioners this year. If you are registered to vote in Douglas County, you can vote for Darien.
